• was a salesman for Amway. Had sexual fantasies and used new-learned sales techniques at bars to seduce women; abused women he dated
• by the time of his marriage, he was a well qualified accountant at an international firm and his wife, Karla worked at a local veterinary clinic in St. Catherines, Ontario.

1987: Marries Karla Homolka. Unlike his former dates/women he met, she desired sadistic sex. They immediately fell for each other mainly for sexual reasons.


Crime Profile:

1. The Scarborough Rapist
   1. worked with his wife to seduce and rape many women/girls
   2. Following teenage girls were murdered:
      1. Leslie Mahaffy
         1. Bernardo blindfolded the girl. Tortured and raped the girl. Sodomized her. Bernardo strangled the girl. Chainsawed the dead body, dumped the body in cement and into a river. According to evidence the girl herself was pretty curious with what Bernardo had to offer.
      2. Kristen French
         1. Bernardo and his wife abducted French, who was 15 at the time. The couple tortured French and filmed themselves while doing it. She was killed and her body was dumped at a ditch.
      3. Tammy Homolka:
         1. 
         2. Bernardo peeped into Tammy's window and masturbated. Bernardo and his wife knock her unconscious, and raped her together. A few hours later she was pronounced dead. Bernardo and his wife reported that the death was an accident; testimony was believed.

5. Manipulation
   1. (various lead-ins to the girl; making the victim volunteer to come to their house)
